Letter Time-

Exploration
Talk about Indians. What they ate, where they lived and what they wore.
Hunters-gatherers
Told stories, they didn’t write them down.
Indian Names- Give each child an Indian name(Little Scout, running bear, morning star, strong deer, wise rabbit, day star, thunder, new sun, burning fire, little one, beautiful butterfly, white flower)

Discover Corner
Make Indian headdresses.
Make totem poles

Snack-
Teepee's- Sugar cones with frosting and decorations

Physical Activity-
Have children put on headdresses and then paint their faces.

I’m a little Indian on the go,
Here is my arrow, here is my bow
When I go a hunting, here me shout
Bears and Buffalo better watch out.

Story Circle-

The Brave Little Indian: Little Scout was an Indian boy. (Hold two fingers at back of head for feathers.) He was so brave (Fold arms across chest), and strong.(Show muscles in arms) He took his bow and arrow. (Hands holding a bow and arrow ready to shoot.) And hunted all day long. (Put hand over eyes to shade them from the sun.) He wanted to catch the grizzly, A great ENORMOUS (Loudly) bear, GRRRRRRRRR (Loudly) (Hold hands up like claws, spread fingers and growl.) He took his bow and arrow, (Holding the bow and arrow ready to shoot again.) And hunted everywhere. (Shade eyes again.) He looked along the river, As he paddled his canoe. (Paddling holding canoe oars with hands.) He climbed up on the hill. ( Moving arms and feet like climbing.) To get a better view. (Shade eyes like looking all around.) He saw a furry rabbit, with his cottontail (Both hands wiggle behind their bums.) and tall ears. (Hands make tall ears.) And there, with great huge antlers, (Spread fingers on either side of their heads.) He could see a pretty deer. And suddenly from behind a rock came Mr. Grizzly Bear (Say this progressively louder, and growl, raise hands like claws and look mean.) Little Scout took one look, (Shade eyes and look) and ran away from there! (Turn and Run!!!!!)

Exploration-
Allow the kids to dress up in scrubs and roll play.
Supplies:
Rolls of gauze
band aids
Stethoscope
Masks

syringes









Discover Corner-
Talked about germs and how they are spread. Talked about the importance of washing your hands so you and others don't get sick.

Put glitter (germs) on your hands. Shake hands with one of the kids, no they have germs on their hands. Have the kids continue to shakes hands with each other until everyone has GERMS on their hands. Then have each of the kids wash their hands with soap and water. The glitter (germs) are no longer on their hands

Letter E- Eggs

"E" Eggs

Practice writing names while waiting for all the kids to arrive

Circle Time-
Welcome to preschool
Calendar and Weather
Sing ABC's
Theme- Letter E- Eggs

Letter Time- Show the kids the letter E. Talk about what sound the letter E makes. Have them repeat it.

Exploration- Talk to children about all the animals that come from eggs (birds, snakes, turtles, fish, lizards, etc) Had different sized and colored eggs cut out of construction paper for the kids to "crack" open and see what animals come from the different eggs. Make a dinosaur egg by hard boiling an egg and soaking it in vinegar for a couple of days. It makes the egg soft and leathery.

Read Green Eggs and Ham

Snack/Craft- Decorate hard boiled eggs then eat them. Or make green eggs and ham.

Practice writing the Letter E and color picture.

Physical Activity- Have the kids pretend to be animals in the eggs and have them pretend to hatch and act like the animal they were pretending to be.

Story Circle- Read Green Eggs and Ham- Review The letter E and the sound that it makes.

"D" Dinosaurs

DINOSAURS “D”

   WARM-UPS

   Children trace names while waiting for others to arrive.

  CIRCLE TIME: (15 Minutes)

1-        Welcome to Preschool, sing a welcome song and wiggly song to get out wiggles.

2-       Calendar Time

3-        Weather

4-  Guessing Game with Bag of Dinosaur related items to help the kids guess what we are learning about today.

5-  Show the Dino Masks, and tell the Kids that the theme today is the Letter D and D is for Dinosaurs!!!

6-         SING

·      Wearing the Dino Masks

Dinosaur Song 
Kids participate by sing and acting out the motions to this dinosaur song “I'm a Mean Old Dinosaur”
 (Tune:  I'm a little Tea Pot)

 “I'm a mean old Dinosaur  (Make a mean face, the kids make the cutest mean faces) Big and Tall(Gesture hands big and tall ) Here is my tail, here is my claw.(Gesture hands behind your back for tail and make claw hands) When I get all hungry  (rub your tummy) I just growl(Have the kids exaggerate the grrroooowwwlll)Look out kids I'm on the prowl.  (Here I tickle each one of the tummy and they all giggle)”

  EXPLORATION TIME: (30 Minutes)

  BUILD A SNACK (15 Minutes)

·                 Dinosaur Cookies

·            Dinosaur “Dig” Treats. (Chocolate Pudding with Dinosaur Fruit snacks hidden in to find with   spoon.)

·             Paper Plate Dinosaurs

·            Magic Growing Water Dinosaurs (Little Pills that turn into dinosaurs in water.)

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY (15 Minutes)

GAME:

·           T-Rex Tag

 One of the children is the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and the others are all plant-eaters. Mark  off a fairly large area and have Tyrannosaurus Rex try to tag the plant-eaters. When the  Tyrannosaurus Rex tags them, they must sit on the ground and stay there. Once the  Tyrannosaurus Rex has tagged all of the plant-eaters, the last person to be tagged  becomes the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

·           Dinosaur Dig

  Hide plastic dinosaurs in your sand area and let your children dig for bones.

  DINOSAUR STORY CIRCLE

 Read Dinosaur Books out loud. Maybe have the kids wear their masks to close the day.
